A flood and storm water detention study including hydrologic and hydraulic analysis was performed on an undeveloped 70-acre property in Franklin, Tennessee. The studies were necessary to reclaim property from the 100-year flood plain. HEC-1 software was used to model the hydrology of the 1,769-acre watershed draining through the property. HEC-RAS software was used to develop a backwater model for the stream relocation. In addition, a detailed design was performed for the construction of a storm water detention basin to limit peak runoff rates from the constructed project. The project met all TDEC, COE, TWRA, and City of Franklin requirements.
