Ragan-Smith assisted in the mapping of the ½ mile railroad tunnel built prior to the Civil War that runs underneath Oak Ridge Highway. High Definition Surveying was used to locate deformation in the tunnel walls and ceiling. Monitoring stations previously established for documenting settlement of the tunnel were located, as well as a previously established baseline used to control the entire project. Views were also created in 100' sections showing east wall, west wall and ceiling and then referenced to the baseline shown in a 2D Drawing. The final product was used to evaluate the areas of deformations and to have these areas located accurately in relationship to each other.
