Old Smyrna Road is an historic road distinguished by extensive street trees and 19th-century rock walls. Ragan-Smith was hired by the City of Brentwood to conduct a corridor study to determine how the route could be made to handle more traffic while increasing safety and without destroying the historic character of the road. Three alternatives were presented to the public in open meetings and input was solicited and documented. All three alternatives used part of the road as a pedestrian and bikeway trail.
